Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer

January 6, 2009 (Day Three)

On this third day of Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer, God is dealing with me about my connections. What have I become connected to? Today God wants to give you and I the breakthroughs we need from the willful attachments that have become hindrances to our spiritual growth. I believe it will be a two-step process. The first step will be a disconnection process where the Holy Spirit will reveal detrimental attachments to be free from. The second step will be a supernatural connection experience where God will call you into a deeper relationship with Him that you have ever known.

The problem with the hindering connections we affix ourselves to is found in the massive weight that we must carry to remain attached to them. Hebrews 12:1 commands us to, “…lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…” You are going to break free today from every connection that is harmful!

The word connect does not appear in the Bible. Not in the version we have come to use in our English language. Our word connect, comes from a combination of Latin and Middle English that came into use in the early 1400’s. The biblical word for connect is join. In both Hebrew (Old Testament) and Greek (New Testament) translations it simply means the willful tying of one’s self to something.

Jesus uses the word in Mark 10:9 relating to marriage, “Therefore what God has joined together let not man separate.” Let’s examine our relationships today. Do you feel distant from your spouse? Do you have family associations that are strained and dysfunctional? Sever all ties that encroach on the intimacy of your marriage. Any interaction that draws negatively on your marriage must be disconnected from today!

If you have family members who refuse to recognize the boundaries of your life goals, reaffirm those desires and disconnect if needed. This fast will reveal unhealthy connections. Matthew 19:29 promises, “And everyone who has left houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My name’s sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.”

What about you connections to friends? You will become what you associate with. Luke 15:15 tells the story of the Prodigal Son in this manner, “Then he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country, and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.” It seems normal to violate your principles when the environment you have embraced accepts it as ordinary and usual. This danger is revealed deeper in 2 Corinthians 6:14, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” Today is your breakthrough past the barrier of quiet acceptance; into the blessing of spiritual connections that promote righteousness. God is illuminating a path to the spiritual connections you need.

1 Corinthians 1:10 commands us to, “…speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.” God has a perfect fit for you in His Kingdom! This Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer will direct you to disconnect from the things that are weighing you down and hindering the life God has for you. Your personal blessing and promise for this is found in 1 Corinthians 6:17, “ But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit with Him.”

God has set you in a spiritual family. In this spiritual family that you are a part of God has ordained that everything you need to grow and live exists through the divine supply of His purpose. Ephesians 4:16 makes this profoundly clear, “ …from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.”

On this third day of fasting you have probably begun to conqueror the physical withdrawals (including the sugar headaches) from the food you have given up. If you are also fasting secular media you could be dealing with the deafening silence. This is a good time to examine your connections. What are you joined to? What do you need to disconnect from? Today the Holy Spirit begins to reach past the barriers of your flesh into your spirit to lead you deeper into Him. Stay the course! God is connecting you to a supernatural source of spiritual advancement that will reap a mighty harvest of His purpose through you.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJ) “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Blessings & Peace,

PG
