Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer

Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer January 4, 2009 (Day One)

Today is your beginning. I want you to make a conscience effort to identify this day as a starting place. What has happened to you before today is only a thing of the past. Your past was your passage to this place. Today is a day to forget. Forgetting your past is to neglect, or no longer care for, what happened and why. As we begin this Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer you are being released to forget.

Philippians 3:12-14 (MSG) I’m not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is beckoning us onward—to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back.

Setting the course for a new beginning on this first day of your Breakthrough experience is vital to the total freedom that is calling you to break loose from the shackles of your past experiences. Inside of you is a God-given desire to soar above the cares of this life. The cares of this life are the tethers that hold you bound to a situation or an experience. You are not what you have been through. Your identity is not found in what you have experienced. You are free by virtue of the Creator who fearfully and wonderfully made you in His image.

Psalm 139:14(NKJ) I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.

Genesis 1:27 (NKJ) So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.

This is why you are so uncomfortable with the disparity between what you have read about God, and what you are actually experiencing. You were not created to bear the burdens of an inconsistent spiritual existence. You must grasp this principle: Your physical world is ordered from a spiritual realm. This Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer is designed to diminish the physical input into your life to accentuate the spiritual hunger that is buried beneath the cares of life. The spiritual seeds have been planted; whether or not they grow is a direct result of your attitude and concern for them.

Luke 8:14 (NKJ) Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity.

In order for you to release your past and forget it, you must make a decision to disconnect from it. You disconnect from your past through repentance. You can actually lay down the weight of your past experiences and start fresh and new today. The future God has created for you demands a new start today to embrace it.

Hebrews 12:1 (NKJ)Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

You disconnect from your past through repentance. To repent is to seek God’s forgiveness. Seeking God’s forgiveness is not a display of weak faith. It doesn’t mean you are worthless and unworthy. All have sinned and come short of what God expects. The Bible says to us,”If we say we have no sin we deceive ourselves.” The Bible also tells us, “Whatsoever is not of faith is sin.” You do the math; we need God’s forgiveness on a daily basis. Disconnect from your past today by asking God for His forgiveness.

Romans 3:23 (NKJ) …for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
1 John 1:8 (NKJ) If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
Romans 14:23 (NKJ) …for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

This year is going to be your best year ever! This is your season for a new song! The reason you need a new song is found in this prophetic fact: God is doing a new thing in your life!

Psalm 98:1 (NKJ) Sing to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him.

You have walked faithfully through the paths of your life as they have been revealed to you. This Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer is to prepare you for a new revelation of God’s purpose and direction.

Isaiah 42:9 (NKJ) See, the former things have taken place, and new things I declare; before they spring into being I announce them to you."

You may think it impossible for God to do anything out of the current place you find yourself. It has been my experience with God that He doesn’t often move you from a place to deliver you; He simply opens your eyes to what He sees in that place. The new thing God is doing for you will spring up out of the wasteland you have given up on. Only God can take nothing and make everything!

Isaiah 42:8-10 (NKJ) See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland.

During this Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer you will receive divine interpretation for unanswered questions. You will experience clarity in hearing God’s voice. Things that have been hidden to you will be revealed in great detail. Your decision to breakthrough will result in the exposure of answers you have sought in prayer and counsel.

Isaiah 43:18-20 (NKJ) You have heard these things; look at them all. Will you not admit them? "From now on I will tell you of new things, of hidden things unknown to you.

The primary purpose of this season of fasting is to increase our spiritual capacity to receive a divine impartation of prophetic release, for the next dimension of ministry through Community Life Fellowship, and our individual lives.

Secondary purposes include: spiritual sensitivity, prophetic awareness, crucifying of our fleshly desires, limiting the appetite of our flesh to feed our spirits with Godly substance, and overcoming the barriers and limits that hinder personal and corporate breakthrough.

Be sure and use your Fasting Journal as a reference point throughout this fast. Write down your thoughts. Write out your Prayer Requests, and then write the answers out when they come. This will strengthen your faith in a tremendous way. When you identify a “Barrier” or “Limit”, write it down and make it a part of your prayer process. You will be amazed at how quickly those areas will become “Breakthrough Points”. I believe God with you for a powerful journey.

Each day during this twenty-one day period of Breakthrough Fasting & Prayer I will communicate with you through my blogs, email, text, and phone calls. I will share with you the things I am sensing in the Spirit. During your daily time of devotion take these words and seal them in your spirit.

Numbers 6:24-26 (NKJ) “The LORD bless you and keep you; The LORD make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you; The LORD lift up His countenance upon you, and give you peace.”

Blessings & Peace,
PG
